Component Studies
- Comments from the public, stakeholders, aboriginal community and the Technical Review Committee (TRC) on the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Bio-physical Component Study have been incorporated in the document. The final version of the TOR has now been completed.
- Public, stakeholders, aboriginal community and TRC comments on the draft TOR for the Socio-economic Component Study have been incorporated into the document. Additional comments from the TRC have also been addressed and work is underway to finalize the TOR.
- Comments from the TRC on the draft TOR for the Modelling Component Study have been addressed. The responses provided by the AMEC Study Team are being reviewed by the TRC.
- The AMEC Study Team is in the process of obtaining feedback from all the municipalities in the Petitcodiac River Watershed regarding their municipal 5-year and infrastructure plans in order to utilize this information in the evaluation of the project options.
Fishway Passage Evaluation
Further to the evaluation of fish passage technologies and the examination of the Petitcodiac fishway as well as other existing fishways in Canada, the United States and Overseas, the AMEC Study Team will hold a Fish Passage Workshop on April 17, 2004.
This workshop will present an analysis of fish migration behaviour for those species identified for the EIA ‘fish passage’ requirement. It will also provide for thorough discussion of current fish passage technology, and an analysis of existing fishways in other locations being examined through the study process. The workshop will be held at the Moncton Lions Senior Citizens Centre located at 473 St. George Street, Moncton, N.B.
Consultation Activities
Consultation activities included meetings with Lake Petitcodiac Bass Fishing Tournament Organizer and Dorchester Cape Fisherman on February 11, 2004, a presentation to the Moncton City Council on February 16, 2004, which was aired on TV on channels 9 and 10. A Copy of the presentation is posted on the project website under “Public Consultation” link. Consultation activities during the month of March included a presentation to engineering students at the Université de Moncton on March 16, 2004.
