Study Update - July 2005

Component Studies and EIA Reports

  • The Biophysical and Socio-economic Component Study report as well as the Modelling Component Study report and its appendices have been completed and are presently being translated.
  • The Public Consultation Report has been translated at this stage.
  • The EIA Report is being translated at this time. However, the AMEC Study Team is now working on some sections of the report to address comments from the Technical Review Committee (TRC). These changes will be incorporated in the final translated version of the report.

Consultation Activities

Several meetings were held with the Technical Review Committee (TRC) on April 19, July 13 and July 19, 2005 to discuss various aspects of the EIA Report and its appendices.

During the month of May, a member of the New Brunswick Department of Supply and Services (NBDSS) made a presentation on May 17 to the Riverview High School outlining the background of the project as well as the status of the EIA.

Members from the AMEC Study Team and a member of the New Brunswick Department of Supply and Services (NBDSS) discussed the project options with a resident from the Moncton area during conference calls on June 29 and July 7, 2005. A follow up meeting was held on July 14 to continue these discussions.

On July 21, 2005 a member of the AMEC Study Team and a member of NBDSS met with members from the Tri-community Marina to discuss the project options in relation to the marina.

It is intended that a consultation session will be held by NBDSS and the AMEC Study Team in order to present and summarize the final component study reports and the EIA Report (including conclusions and recommendations). At this event, which will be announced in due time, copies of the component study reports, public consultation report and the EIA Report will be made available to the public.

The tracking log which records all public, stakeholders and aboriginal community questions and comments on the Petitcodiac River Causeway EIA study was updated in May 2005 and is posted on the website under the public consultation link.
