Study Update - January 2005

Component Studies

  • The Draft Bio-physical and Socio-economic Component Study report has been completed and reviewed by the Technical Review Committee (TRC). The AMEC Study Team is presently addressing the TRC comments and is in the process of finalizing the report.
  • The Draft Modelling Component Study report and its appendices have been submitted to the TRC for their review and comments. Upon receiving the TRC comments, the report will be revised, as appropriate, and finalized.
  • Draft Consultation Report plus the draft EIA report is scheduled to be submitted by the end of January 2005 to the TRC for their review and comments.

TRC Meetings

Meetings with the Technical Review Committee (TRC) were held on September 24 and September 27, 2004 to update the committee on model set up, calibration and verification as well as to update the committee on the November 6, 2004 EIA and modelling workshop presentation.

Consultation Activities

A workshop to update the public, stakeholders and the aboriginal community on the EIA and the modelling component was held on November 6, 2004. The workshop was divided into four parts in order to facilitate the presentation of information on the Study status and modelling. The first portion of the presentation, Part A, consisted of a review of background information, followed by Part B which consisted of information on fish biology and fish passage, Part C described the existing conditions and provided an evaluation of project options against project objectives, and lastly, Part D consisted of an overview of the modelling conducted for the Study. On November 16, 2004, a member of the AMEC Study Team and a member of the New Brunswick Department of Supply and Services (NBDSS) attended a meeting with the Moncton Naturalists’ Club and a presentation by Jamie Crossman, UNBSJ, Biology Department on a Shortnose Sturgeon and Atlantic Sturgeon in New Brunswick.

On January 5, 2005, a member of the AMEC Study Team and a member from the NBDSS made a presentation summarizing the history of the project and the status of the EIA to the Moncton Probus Club.

The tracking log which records all public, stakeholders and aboriginal community questions and comments on the Petitcodiac River Causeway EIA study was updated in January 2005 and is posted on the website under the public consultation link.
