Federal/Provincial Process

On the next page, a flow chart outlines the federal-provincial harmonized process from start to finish. The highlighted areas indicate what steps have already been taken or are in progress. The unhighlighted areas signal what steps are left to complete.

The provincial and federal governments have agreed to initiate the Environmental Impact Assessment of the options for achieving a long-term solution to the fish passage and ecosystem issues resulting from the Petitcodiac River Causeway.

Because this project requires registration under the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation of the New Brunswick Clean Environment Act and triggers a review under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the federal and provincial environmental assessment processes are being carried out in a harmonized and co-operative manner.
