| The New Brunswick Department of Supply and Services (DSS) will act as proponent for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study. In its role as proponent, DSS has the responsibility for managing the Environmental Impact Assessment study. The department will guide and monitor the preparation of the EIA report - a report that will be prepared by a consultant hired through a formal tendering process. The Department of Supply and Services has proven expertise and skills in major project management. It has consistently taken an 'arm's length' approach to issues surrounding modifications to the Petitcodiac Causeway and is not predisposed to any outcome resulting from the various options to be examined. As manager of the EIA study, the Department of Supply and Services offers professionalism, objectivity and strong management.
