For Immediate Release |
The first in a series of three consultation workshops on component studies for the Petitcodiac River Causeway Environmental Impact Assessment will take place April 26 in Moncton. |
"Interested stakeholders, community representatives and residents of the Petitcodiac River watershed are invited to take part in this workshop, which will focus on the biophysical component of our study. We encourage participants to register for this event as soon as possible," said Jacques Paynter, Facilitator for the EIA Study Team. |
The topics to be covered include: identification of issues for hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling, as well as study methodologies, objectives, and applicable assessment criteria regarding aquatic, terrestrial, and atmospheric aspects of the EIA. The workshop will take place at Wedgewood Hall, 1201 Mountain Road in Moncton, and lunch will be provided for the participants. |
"This is the first of three consultation workshops being organized by the EIA Study Team between late April and late June. We want to ensure the process of developing Terms of Reference for our detailed EIA component studies is open to the public, the news media, interested stakeholder groups and community representatives," said Mr. Paynter. |
"A similar workshop on socio-economic components is being planned for May 24, while the modelling aspects of the study will be addressed at the third event in the series on October 18," he said. Mr. Paynter noted that draft Terms of Reference for the component studies will be distributed to participants, in advance of each workshop, to assist them in preparing for the subsequent discussions. |
