November 6, 2004 Study Update and Modelling Workshop

MONCTON - An overall update on the study progress, fish passage issues, and preliminary results of the hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling of the Petitcodiac River and estuary will be the main topics of discussion at a public workshop on Saturday, November 6, 2004, at the Holiday Inn Express in Moncton.

This is the fifth session in a series of technical workshops that are part of the Petitcodiac River Causeway Environmental Impact Assessment. Similar public workshops were held in 2003 and earlier this year, on the biophysical, socio-economic, modelling and fish passage aspects of the Environmental Impact Assessment.

“Interested stakeholders, community representatives and residents throughout the Petitcodiac River watershed are actively encouraged to participate in this public workshop,” said Jacques Paynter, study facilitator. “Significant progress has been made on many components of the study and the work accomplished over the course of this year will be presented. In addition, the hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling process and the preliminary results will be explained.”

The November 6th workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m., and is open to the news media. Lunch will be provided. The Holiday Inn Express is located at 2515 Mountain Road, in Moncton, near the Magnetic Hill exit of the Trans Canada Highway. Free parking is available.

Mr. Paynter noted that there is no charge for the workshop, but space is limited and all interested participants are urged to register no later than November 1, 2004. Mr. Paynter can be reached at the coordinates listed below. For additional information regarding the Petitcodiac River Causeway EIA, please consult the website at: www.petitcodiac.com
