September 2003 Open House Sessions |
The Petitcodiac River Causeway Environmental Impact Assessment Study Team will hold public 'Open Houses' in four separate communities across the Petitcodiac River watershed, beginning Monday September 22nd. |
Each of these informal 'drop-in' sessions will take place between 4:30PM and 8:00 PM, and Study Facilitator Jacques Paynter is welcoming all those interested in any aspect of the EIA process. |
The schedule for the four Open Houses is as follows: |
AMEC Earth & Environmental is leading the consortium of consulting firms hired to conduct the Petitcodiac River Causeway EIA on behalf of the NB Department of Supply and Services. The Study Team also includes Jacques Whitford Environment Limited, ADI Ltd., GEMTEC Ltd., the Canadian Hydraulic Centre, Gardner Pinfold Consulting Economists Ltd., and a range of other technical specialists. |
Jacques Paynter of AMEC heads the public consultation aspects of the study. He explained the new series of Open Houses will provide an update on the progress of the EIA to date, including an overview of 2003 summer fieldwork activity. |
"We will also be encouraging informal discussion on the Biophysical and Socio-Economic Components of the study, and providing information on future steps as the EIA moves forward in the coming Fall and Winter, " Mr. Paynter said. |
"The public consultation program was designed from the outset to visit a wide range of communities, large and small, throughout the watershed during the study period. Thus far, events have been held in Salisbury, Hillsborough, Memramcook, two in Moncton, and one in Riverview."

"After the upcoming Open Houses, there is a public Modelling Workshop planned for October 18, 2003 at Polyvalente Mathieu-Martin in Dieppe. By the time the EIA process is complete, we want to ensure that local residents in all sections of the watershed have had an opportunity to take part in the process, " Mr. Paynter said. |

All interested area residents, stakeholders and community representatives are encouraged to take part in these informal 'drop-in' events with key members of the Study Team. |
Each session is aimed providing an update on progress of the EIA to date, including an overview of 2003 summer fieldwork activity. Information will also be available on future steps as the EIA moves forward in the coming Fall and Winter.
